🌈 Sizing details
Size charts are all in the listing photos for you. Though not totally standard, you'll do pretty well ordering your regular US letter size. All chest and waist measurements are the flat measurement taken from the clothing piece itself then doubled for full circumference. They are NOT natural body measurements. Please measure from clothing you have at home and compare clothing-to-clothing with our charts for the very best fit for you!
🌈Where are these cool things made??
I work closely with professional manufacturers in China and the USA. Most AbyssWares pieces ship directly from my factory in China. I know "ships from China" can give people pause, but these manufacturers are not a compromise. They're a deliberate choice. China has spent decades investing in textile expertise at a level that simply isn't available domestically in my sizing range, fabric range, or at an accessible price point. These pieces are being made to order. I'm not reselling existing products. These are my original designs, and I hope when yours arrives, you'll feel the care that went into every part.
🌈How are your things printed?
Nearly all AbyssWares are specialty printed using sublimation--an advanced dye process technique that infuses the fabric with pigments so the print becomes part of the fabric. Sublimated fabrics are vivid and color-fast, and this technique works with a huge variety of materials, from polyester, to cotton, to pleather! Sublimation printing also has an ecological advantage since it requires no water or pre-treatment of the fabric, and the equipment itself is fairly energy-efficient compared to other printing equipment.
🌈Are these weird prints made with AI?
Nope! All the glitchy holographic RGB chaotic strange-looking prints you see in my line start as original source art that I run through dozens of layered glitch effects using my favorite digital algorithmic and fractal distortion programs that add intentional file corruption errors. I manipulate the chaos until it hits the exact point of beauty, then I freeze it there. The final design image file is one-of-a-kind and can't be recreated the same way twice, not by AI, and honestly not even by me. It's a perfectly imperfect process, and that is how I like it.
🌈How do you make the art?
All sorts of ways! My favorites at the moment are hand-drawn doodles, fractal digital art, and digital collage using public domain artworks. I DO NOT use AI for my patterns. I'm having lots more fun making art with old-school digital glitch programs, and also my human fingers and eyeballs.
🌈Gosh there's a lot! How do you pick what to sell?
I try to order samples of every style I sell to see if the quality, stitching, printing, sizing, fabric weight, fit, and feel will be good enough for YOU! The things in the shop have passed the test for being of delightful, durable quality. Please reach out with any questions you have about anything I have in the shop!
🌈Why's the color "White"? I want {whatever color the thing is}
Rest assured your item will arrive as-shown, in the color you like! Because sublimation printing starts with a white base, it is a quirk of my manufacturers' and Etsy's integration that sometimes the color variant shows up in your cart as "white". Sorry for the confusion, I assure you it will come as-pictured!
⚠️🫨 Gah! I need to change something about my order!
It's ok if you tell me RIGHT AWAY, like within an hour of your order, to make a change or cancel. After that, I try to send your order to production to provide the fastest possible service to you. The manufacturing process is very automated so once I send your order to production, there is no change I can make to size or design. If you receive it and it is not the right fit for you, we can do an exchange or return for the cost of return shipping, no problem.
⏱️When can I expect my order to arrive?
About 16 days! Based on 3 years of shipping data tracking hundreds of orders, 16 days is my average fulfillment time from order-to-doorstep. My manufacturers usually take between 5-10 days to create your order, then depending on where you are, it usually takes less than 2 weeks to ship. For remote locations, it can be up to 30 days.
99% of AbyssWares items are exclusive made-on-demand pieces, meaning they don't exist in the world until you order them! Occasionally I have some things on hand I can get it out to you right away--please message me if you are in a time crunch and I can see what I can do for you.
🌈Are these durable, like are they costumes or are they clothes?
Every piece I offer is made to be super durable, comfortable, and beautiful for professionals to rely on as part of their performance gear. I choose fabrics and cuts with the mindset that entertainers are athletes, and deserve the same quality construction and high-intensity tech fabrics that professional athletes need in their sports uniforms. So yes! They are durable, they are costumery AND clothing purpose-built for industrial-strength whimsy!
